SUSTAINABLE FORESTS
Sustainability is one of the more popular buzz words today. Our communities must be sustainable. Our lifestyle must be sustainable.
No doubt we all realize that allowing our overgrown forests & the wildlife in them to be incinerated by unnatural Wildfires is not sustainable. Massive efforts by fire fighters on the Sequoia Piute Fire have achieved a mere 26% containment at a cost of over $10,000,000 while 25,722 acres have been devastated, according to a Forest Report.
    Is bankrupting ourselves sustainable?

CALIFORNIANS FOR PUBLIC ACCESS

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to maintain public access to public lands in California through encouraging cooperation and coalition building among various user groups who share these resources, motorized or stock, winter or summer, water, sand or snow.

OBJECTIVES

It is our objective to unify these groups in fundraising efforts and build alliances and communication between various stakeholders and to educate the public about our common interests and problems in maintaining access. Through education, cooperation, coalition building, and resource acquisition, our objective is to oppose closures and expand opportunities for recreation on public forests, beaches deserts, waterways, and other open spaces.

GOALS

Our specific goals are:

1) To produce off road oriented public events that draw together the public, organizations, off road industry, and commercial interests for fundraising, education and coalition building

2) To maintain the cooperation through communication between groups, sharing of resources, and networking among leadership.

3) To educate the public through events, service announcements, and our internet information services as to responsible recreation, current issues, opportunities for public input, and the activities of affiliated organizations

4) To encourage long range recreational planning in California.

5) To create focus on Central Californian issues and to counteract imposition of the perspectives generated in the more populous areas of the state on less densely populated recreational destinations.

6) To increase the awareness decision makers of public sentiment against closures and loss of recreational access.

7) To preserve access for disabled Americans, families with children, and elderly citizens to outdoor recreation.

8) To maintain and enhance working relationships with Central California land managers and policy makers.

9) To promote safe use of recreational lands.

HOW DOES CAL ACCESS HELP?

Annually, grants are solicited from sister organizations and the Board of Directors in conjunction with active volunteers, supporters and sponsors review the applications and make awards. The BOD will determine what portion of the annual budget will be distributed. Some funds may be retained for contingency distribution for rapidly developing issues. Grants will be considered in the areas of education, advocacy, safety and communications and other areas in compliance with our stated goals.
