SUSTAINABLE FORESTS
Sustainability is one of the more popular buzz words today. Our communities must be sustainable. Our lifestyle must be sustainable.
No doubt we all realize that allowing our overgrown forests & the wildlife in them to be incinerated by unnatural Wildfires is not sustainable. Massive efforts by fire fighters on the Sequoia Piute Fire have achieved a mere 26% containment at a cost of over $10,000,000 while 25,722 acres have been devastated, according to a Forest Report.
    Is bankrupting ourselves sustainable?

Californians for Public Access, Inc.is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benifit corporation formed to fund and bring together outdoor recreational groups.  All funds raised benifit groups promoting public access to public lands for all recreational uses.  All funds raised are through 100% volunteer effort and distributed to groups that share our vision.

ImageThose that seek to close public lands tend to attack us as smaller groups and set us against each other. We need to bring together groups, resources, ideas and energy. We must create a united front to oppose organizations like the Sierra Club, which has significantly greater assets to press their agenda. We also need to reach out to the public to get them involved. The political process will be more responsive as well if we can attract the attention and participation in our events. Activists tend to be focused on their individual issues and have difficulty in working outside of their areas. Cal Access wants to bring these people together to help them attain their goals.

We are working to do three things:

  • Get diverse motorized groups who share public lands to work together to raise money to keep those lands open through an event that brings us together, improves communication, and builds working relationships between like minded groups.
  • To involve the recreational public in an event that not only educates and entertains, but also lets them buy into helping preserve access not only through raising money, but also by raising awareness and educating them on the need to use those lands responsibly.
  • To create focus land use issues and focus resources and attention on those issues.

Please feel free to contact me for any additional information or to schedule a visit with your club at one of your meetings.
